Commercial blackout window shades
The Insolroll® audio-visual blackout shade system is available with our fascia systems, access flap & hanger for custom pockets, or our extruded headbox. Side tracks and sill channels help reduce light leakage.
Commercial blackout shade options are selected on an à la carte basis to get the right amount of light blockage for each application. For many school and conference applications it may be preferable to install shades without tracks to allow some light in so participants can take notes.
Commercial Blackout Window Shades are ideal for:
Conference rooms: Enhance media viewing and presentations in small conference rooms and large meeting rooms alike. Optional side tracks increase the level of room darkening where needed.
Rooms with glass walls: Boardrooms, offices and similar spaces with glass walls facing common areas, factory spaces or other higher traffic spaces may require privacy sometimes. Commercial blackout shades provide complete privacy to the interior when it is required, and can be retracted when no longer needed to preserve the openness and view in the building design.
Video training areas and screening rooms: Wherever video is being presented to an audience, blackout shades with side tracks allow nearly all light to be blocked. Informational video screening rooms at National Park visitor centers, museums, and other attractions can benefit from Insolroll audio-visual blackout shade systems. Simply move the shades up to increase natural light when video isn’t being viewed.
Schools: Large rooms in schools, universities and other educational facilities often do double duty, requiring room darkening for presentations and media viewing, and daylight at other times. Blackout shades meet this need alone, or in combination with solar shades as part of a dual shade system.
Hospitals: Hospitals, surgical centers, dental offices and other health care facilities need patient privacy, and may need room darkening for patient rooms. Hospital blackout shades can be lowered when needed and raised when not needed.
Hotel rooms: In the hospitality industry, guest privacy is paramount, and room darkening essential for any guests resting during the day. Manual or motorized blackout shades bring a clean lined solution to hotel rooms, with a sophisticated, updated appearance. Blackout roller shades can be paired with either draperies or solar shades as part of a dual shade system for complete light and privacy control for guests. Ballrooms with windows may require blackout shades for room darkening, with easy remote control operation.
Drive-through, ticket and teller windows: Blackout shades enhance security for windows where customers interact with employees, and make it clear when the business is closed. Printed blackout shades in these applications can take advantage of the space, featuring business hours of operation, logos and signage.

Fascia system with audio-visual accessories
Our Audio-Visual and Dual shades are available with fascia and additional accessories that block light at the edges and the bottom of the shades.

Dual blackout shades
Insolroll Blackout Window Shades can be paired in the same window opening with Solar Screen Shades for complete sun and light management in a space. This Insolroll® Dual Shade system is available with a double fascia system, a 6″ x 6″ valance system, or mounted into a custom ceiling pocket to completely conceal the roller systems. Side tracks to reduce light leakage is another available option. A wide range of blackout fabrics are available to coordinate with any decor.

Dual shades with 6″ valance system
Insolroll offers a 5 1/2″ x 5 1/2″ dual bracket for clutch shades and small motor systems. A separate 6″ valance system is designed to conceal the rollers. This is ideal for hotel and conference room applications.
Dual shades with 7″ Fascia
Insolroll offers a 5 9/16″ x 7 5/16″ dual bracket for AC and BAT-L3 motors. This sleek design, mounts directly to the brackets and conceals the rollers. Available in Black, White and Clear Anodized.
“Built-in” blackout shades
Insolroll blackout shades can be “built-in” to a recessed pocket created at the time of construction. The shades descend from the ceiling when in use, and disappear above when retracted. The shades descend from the ceiling when in use, and disappear above when retracted.
Insolroll has two pocket installation options, the Extruded Shade Pocket and the Site-built Pocket. Both installation methods result in shades that roll up above the ceiling when retracted. Our Extruded Shade Pocket is an aluminum box custom made to the width of the roller that is installed above the ceiling, while the Site-built Pocket is an empty cavity created by the builders.
