In this video, we will walk you through the steps to replace a fabric panel on a roller shade. Follow along to ensure a smooth, damage-free process. Start by rolling the shade up to its upper limit. If applicable, remove the chain tension device from the mounting surface. If the shade has fascia, remove the front cover. Remove the shade from the brackets and place the shade on a flat, protected surface. For shades installed in a cassette, begin by removing the cassette from the mounting brackets. Insert a flathead screwdriver into the mounting bracket slot and tilt the cassette back to release it. Using a small Phillips-head screwdriver, remove the screw on top of the operator-side end cap from the cassette. Once the end cap is removed, use a rubber mallet to gently tap out the operator bracket. The shade can now be removed from the cassette and placed on a flat, protected surface.

Carefully unroll the fabric to the end of the panel. Using a writing utensil, mark the fabric edge locations on both sides of the roller tube. Remove the existing fabric panel from the tube, keeping the adhesive in place. Align the new fabric panel using your marks and the existing adhesive as a guide. Begin attaching the fabric to the roller tube by securing the outer edges and the center first. Insolroll does not recommend attaching the fabric from one end straight across, as this can cause telescoping. Once the edges and center are secured, attach the remaining sections at the midpoint of each section until the fabric is fully adhered to the tube. Manually roll the fabric onto the tube, reinstall the shade, and test operation by running it up and down. If fabric adjustments are required due to telescoping, roll the shade all the way down so the tube is exposed. Place a piece of duct tape, 2″-4″ in length, near the edge of the tube on the side opposite of the direction the fabric is moving. Run the shade up and down a few times. If the shade still telescopes, repeat the process. The correct amount of tape can only be determined by trial and error. And that’s it. Thanks for watching.
